Echizen lacquerware has over 1,500 years of history. During the Edo Period (1603~1868), delicate painting and carving techniques were applied to make the lacquerware more beautiful. Today, Japanese miso soup, serving trays, saucers, chopsticks and many other small containers and tableware remain popular. If you visit Kanazawa, you may still see some workshops featuring the hand painting process.

Made in Japan.

How to care for Japanese lacquerware:

Do not directly use it on fire, put in microwave or oven.
Stop using it when cracked or broken, or when the paint or lacquer peels off.
Lacquerware is delicate and light weight. Do not put too much heavy items in the container or it may distort or damage the form.

Caution:

If you experience rash due to the paint and lacquer in some rare condition, please stop using it.
